JUBA, South Sudan — March 2026. EmpowerKids–South Sudan (EKSS) has been officially validated by CAF America for a one-year period, effective March 2026 to March 2027, a major institutional milestone that affirms the organization's governance, transparency, and readiness to manage international philanthropic partnerships.

CAF America validation confirms that an organization has met internationally recognized due diligence and compliance standards for nonprofits receiving global donor support. The process involved a rigorous review of EKSS's legal status, governance systems, financial accountability, and operational integrity. Successfully completing it places EKSS among a select group of South Sudanese national organizations verified to international standards, and enables US-based donors to make tax-deductible contributions to EKSS's work through CAF America.

A powerful endorsement of integrity and vision

For EKSS, the validation is more than a procedural recognition. It is an independent endorsement of the organization's leadership and long-term vision, and it opens broader opportunities for partnership with international donors, foundations, and philanthropic institutions seeking credible local organizations that deliver measurable impact.

"This validation is a defining institutional moment for EmpowerKids–South Sudan," said Hakim Monykuer Awuok, Founder and Executive Director of EKSS. "It reflects our unwavering commitment to accountability, sound governance, and operational excellence. But validation is not an endpoint; it is a responsibility. We will continue strengthening the systems that ensure every partnership translates into meaningful, sustainable impact for the communities we serve."

Built on a decade of community impact

Founded in 2014 and registered with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC Reg. No. 169), EKSS works across four program areas:

  • Education — expanding access to quality learning for vulnerable children and under-resourced schools;

  • Empower Farmers South Sudan (EFSS) — advancing conservation agriculture, food security, and economic resilience among smallholder farmers using the Foundations for Farming approach;

  • Youth Empowerment — equipping young people with leadership and entrepreneurship skills;

  • Advocacy and Civic Engagement — promoting democratic participation, peacebuilding, and community voice.

Looking ahead

During the validation period, EKSS will pursue its strategic priorities with renewed institutional strength: expanding the EFSS Conservation Agriculture program, deepening donor relationships, scaling education and youth initiatives, and continuing to strengthen governance and financial management systems.

This milestone reflects the collective effort of EKSS's board, staff, supporters, and community partners, who have built a credible and resilient organization over more than a decade. EKSS extends its sincere gratitude to all who continue to believe in its mission.

Together, we are building a brighter future for South Sudan.
